Vaccines with wrinkle injections & dermal fillers..

This post highlights a few issues with vaccines before or after dermal fillers or (botox) wrinkle relaxer injections with specifically a type of covid 19 vaccination. So in general, the Covid 19 vaccine prior or post wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.. What you need to know before booking either your aesthetic treatment with us or book your covid 19 vaccination through the NHS.

Are dermal fillers and anti wrinkle injections safe before or after the covid 19 vaccine?

Many medical professionals have said “they are safe” however there has been a few story’s going around with concerns over the reactions between the covid 19 vaccine and the injectables, particularly dermal fillers. The truth of the matter is there as been a couple of instances were following the covid 19 vaccine people have experienced some swelling at the site of the previous dermal filler placement. This is a VERY rare occurrence. But even so, we are very mindful of it and if you have any treatments/injectables, you should know the facts too.

Immune Response with Vaccination

When we have the Covid-19 vaccine it triggers an immune response (to enable us to fight off the virus) this response can, in very few cases, trigger swelling where there is something foreign in the body (ie dermal filler). These reactions are not infections or allergies, they are an immune response.

What should you do if you have had dermal fillers?

Nothing if you have not noticed any reaction or swelling.

What should you do if you HAVE noticed some swelling?

Get in touch with your injector ASAP for advice to manage and settle the swelling.

They should advise you on whats best to do. The recommended treatment is usually anti-histamines.

How to manage bruising and swelling by M W A Aesthetics

General advise managing vaccine & aesthetics

Remember to tell us at M.W.A aesthetics when you’ve had or are due to have your vaccine when booking your appointment. The precautionary advice is to wait for two-three weeks after your vaccine before you have dermal fillers.

If you’ve had dermal fillers recently I’d advise waiting two-three weeks before having your vaccine, I’d like to remind you if you’ve not done this and you’ve had no reaction, its all fine, in the very few cases that have been noted the swelling response happens within 48hrs of the vaccine.

As I mentioned above, this response is very RARE!!

But if you do notice any swelling in areas where you’ve previously had dermal fillers get in touch with the injector or your GP. My own initial advice to clients, if they were to notice any swelling would be to take anti-histamines if they’re suitable and to keep in touch with us or your injector for monitoring.

One final note is — Please do not let having dermal fillers in the past deter you from having the vaccine – we all need to have it to get our world back to safety. On another not please don’t let the covid 19 vaccine put you off from enhancing your inner beauty!

Have a great day, be safe and keep being gorgeous..
